The process for transferring ebooks to Apple devices and Android devices is different than the process used for devices like Nook, Kobo and Sony. Apple and Android devices do not use Adobe Digital Editions to transfer books. However, these users still need to create an Adobe ID because of Digital Rights management.
Apple devices including iPhone, iTouch and iPad use the Overdrive Media Console (OMC) App to download books. Android devices including Cruz tablet, Galaxy Tablet, Droid phones, etc. also use OMC. See a list of ebook compatible devices that use OMC. This is the same app used to download audiobooks, so if you have downloaded an audiobook, this may already be this installed on your device.
The OMC app can be downloaded from app Store for each type of device, or from the Overdrive site.
