Overview

The library offers downloadable Adobe ePub and Adobe PDF books. These books can be downloaded from the Front Range Downloadable Library site by Westminster library cardholders. Books can be downloaded to a Mac or Windows computers, as well as a variety of portable devices. As of 10/25/2011, the collection contains 1,210 downloadable ePub titles.

Finding Our Downloadable Books

There are many different ways to find our downloadable books:

From the library home page, click on the link underneath the Overdrive logo
From the library home page click on Download eBooks/audiobooks
In the catalog do a keyword search for 'ereaders'
In the catalog, click on the 'Readers' Resources' tab and look under 'Reading Lists and More'>'Library Sponsored Resources' for 'Downloadable Media'

Ordering Process

eBooks are ordered once-a-month. We are a member of a consortium that includes Loveland, Lafayette, Longmont, Louisville, Boulder and Broomfield. The eBook collection is shared by cardholders from all these libraries. Each library purchases titles every month. Purchases from Feb-September, 2011 by consortium: $10,160. Average monthly purchase by Westminster: $250.00. Average number of titles purchased monthly by consortium: 90.

Requests and Holds

If you are looking for a title you don't see in the collection, you may ask us to purchase it. See the online Request for Purchase form on the library website or call 303-658-2604. We also encourage you to place holds on items. This allows us to monitor demand and order additional copies if our budget allows. You are notified by email when an item you have placed on hold is ready for download.

Funding eBooks

The library has no new or separate budget for eBooks. Money for eBooks comes from our regular book budget. In order to purchase an eBook we may need to purchase fewer print or audio copies. Unfortunately, demand for this collection is increasing and our budget is not.

What Software Will I Need?
